BACKGROUND:

Survivors’ Mentor’s Organization (SMO) is a women-led Community-Based Organization established in 2016 and officially registered in 2019 in Kajiado County, Kenya. The organization operates under the Ministry of The East African Community, Labour, and Social Protection, specifically under the Department of Social Development. SMO’s registration number is KJD/HUDC/CBO/50526/19, and its main office is located in Kitengela town at Milele Business Center along Kajiado road. SMO primarily focuses on providing support and assistance to women, girls, and Key Populations who are survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

VISION:

The vision of SMO is to create a better everyday life for survivors of Gender-Based Violence.

MISSION:

SMO’s mission is to ensure a safer space for women, girls, and other vulnerable populations where they can express themselves, be heard, understood, accepted, and contribute to creating a safe and peaceful society for all.

GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE:

SMO is governed by a 5-member Gender-sensitive Board comprising 3 females and 2 males from diverse backgrounds and professions, including teaching, corporate, health, business, and the non-governmental sector. This board ensures strategic direction, oversight, and adherence to the organization’s mission, vision, and core values.
